’Court complex’ at existing veteriry compound opposed

GUWAHATI, January 4: The residents of Kushal Konwar Path (bagraha Path), Chenikuthi hillside, MC Road, KK Bhatta Road, Happyvilla organized a public meeting on Saturday to protest the State Government’s move to convert the existing veteriry complex at Barowari to a ‘Court Complex’ to house around 30 courts of Kamrup (Metro) district. The meeting, presided over by Dr Anuradha Dutta, discussed various problems that would keep coming in the area in the event of converting the veteriry complex at Barowari to a ‘Court Complex’. They, however, said that the place could be used as a children’s park. After a threadbare discussion, it was decided to submit a memorandum to the State Government with a copy to the Prime Minister, the Union Law Minister and the Union Environment Minister to reconsider the decision of the State Government to convert the existing Veteriry Complex to a Court Complex, and consider constructing a children/senior citizens’ park in the interest of the local residents, a press release said.
