CPI to stage dhar on Oct 5

GUWAHATI, Oct 4: The Communist Party of India (CPI) is going to stage a protest demonstration against the government all over the country and the state in support of their demand for reducing the prices of essential commodities, on October 5.

State CPI secretary Drupad Borgohain told the media in the city today: "With the other parts of the country, we are also going to stage protest demonstration in every district of the state on October 5. In the city, we will stage the demonstration at Dighalipukhuripar against the anti-people policy of the Central and the State Government. We also protest the decision of Central government on giving shelter to illegal Hindu immigrants from Bangladesh who came before December 31, 2014. For that, we are going to stage a dhar on October 12 at Dighalipukhuripar of the city, with the cooperation of other parties -- AGP, AIUDF, CPI, CPIM, NCP, Samajbadi Party, Liberal Democratic Party of Assam and Ga Mukti Asom."

On the Assembly elections in 2016, Borgohain said: "In the coming elections, we have decided to contest in 22 constituencies of the state, and will declare the mes later on."
