Dass’ statement causes controversy

GUWAHATI, Jan 27: A goof-up in the hoisting of the tiol Flag at the BJP Assam Pradesh headquarters in Guwahati and the comment made by State party president Ranjit Kumar Dass on it stirred up a controversy in the tiol media. Dass hoisted the tiol Flag upside down, and when it was noticed the flag had to be downed to get it corrected. When reporters asked Dass of the goof-up, he said: “It was an oversight similar to us wearing the vest inside out sometimes. The moment I noticed the mistake, I questioned the person who was responsible for arranging the Flag for hoisting.”

The statement from the State party president has not gone well with the media and others in the State and outside it. Reacting to the statement, former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said: “It’s shame to compare the tiol Flag with the vest. This statement speaks volumes of his respect for the tion.”
