DC ends dispute over kabarsthan

GUWAHATI, June 29: The dispute between two Guwahati Kabarsthan committees on their genuineness came to an end with the intervention of the Kamrup(M) district administration, claimed Jamal Ahmed, the president of one of the two Kabarsthan committees that was handed over the charge by the administration recently.
Talking to the press at Guwahati Kabarsthan at Athgaon in the city today, Ahmed said: “The administration gave us the charge of the Kabarsthan yesterday. We’ve taken the charge with the help of the police. On September 18, 2016 an executive committee of the Kabarsthan headed by Jamal Ahmed was formed. The meeting was presided over by Mir Ashik Hussain. However, on the same night Ashik formed another committee and kept the burial ground with him. We did move the Kamrup(M) Deputy Commission on that with a petition.” On June 20, the DC issued an order asking Mir Ashik Hussain and Gulam Murtaza to hand over the charge of Guwahati Kabarsthan Committee to its genuinely elected president Jamal Ahmed and general secretary Imul Rahman. The DC had to follow an order that had been issued by the Gauhati High Court earlier. Jamal and Rahman took charge of the Kabarsthan yesterday with the help of Bharalumukh police.
