GUWAHATI, June 26: The Kamrup metropolitan district administration will go for an impact study on the overall socio-economic growth and potential of the Ambubachi Mela within the city. Talking to The Sentinel today, Kamrup(M) DC M Angamuthu said that spiritual tourism and overall influence of the mela in the city and its impact on the existing socio-economic infrastructure would come under the study. “Market-driven response and the crowd pattern will be alysed,” he said, and added: “In future, we have to reach the next level to accommodate various needs of the visiting pilgrims. Popularity for such a spiritual tourism destition will be used for roper spinning of socio-economic growth of the city. We will be making proper study of each and every aspect of its influence within society and overall economic growth of the city. In fact, we want to study overall facilities and gap areas too. We’ve made proper arrangements for the visiting pilgrims. Scientific documentation of the entire mela and its impact on the existing infrastructure will be made.”
