DC inspects Pamohi wholesale market

GUWAHATI, May 9: Kamrup (M) Deputy Commissioner M Angamuthu inspected the Pamohi wholesale vegetable and fruit market with officials of the Assam State Agricultural Marketing Board, Food and Civil Supplies, Guwahati Municipal Board (GMC) and the police today.  They assessed the prevailing demand and supply of vegetables and fruits in the city, and discussed the going rates of vegetables. The merchant association of the city also requested the district administration to provide adequate parking provisions. The DC directed the marketing board officials not to allow retail market within the premises. He also discussed cleanliness in the market, providing adequate security and basic amenities to the farmers and wholesalers, labour welfare measures and other services.
