GUWAHATI, June 12: The World Day against Child Labour was observed at District Library in the city today along with rest of the country. It was observed under the aegis of Kamrup(M) district administration in collaboration of the tiol Child Labour Project Committee.

Kamrup(M) DC M Angamuthu, DCP Ranjan Bhuyan, East Guwahati MLA Siddhartha Bhattacharya, DDC Barli Sarma, ADC PP Bora and others were present at the programme. Today they took out a procession from Latasil field to the DC office. It was flagged off by the DC.

The DC said that the works under the tiol Child Labour Project had not been done properly. “The NGOs should also be professiolly skilled so as to bring down child labour in the country. The number of child labourers is going up every year in the country. Awareness in this regard, including in Guwahati, has not been brought about the way it should have been. Child labour is very much in Guwahati. We’re going to take all measures to fight it out.”

The child labourers who were shown the light of education in special training centres under the tiol Child Labour Project were felicitated at the function today.
