DC orders to clear encroachment

GUWAHATI, May 4:  Kamrup (Metro) Deputy Commissioner M Angamuthu on Thursday has ordered the Gauhati Municipal Corporation (GMC) to take necessary exercise for cleaning the blockages and encroachments at Tetelia area on NH-37 in the city by May 12.
The DC in a letter to GMC Commissioner said, “Severe water logging has been observed at Tetelia area on NH-37 in the recent times which occurs only because of blockages of tural channels and encroachments along the NH-37 and Teteliabori- Engineering College Road. If such kind of blockages and illegal encroachments’ are not restricted and strict regulatory measures are not taken the water logging problem in that area will not be mitigated.” The DC said that Kshitish Ch Pegu, ADC, Kamrup (M) and Lakhi ndan Saharia, Circle Officer, Guwahati Revenue Circle and Rahul Das, EO, Kamrup (M) district will take necessary steps to evict all kinds of obstruction and encroachment along the Teteliabori- Engineering College Road from NH-37 to Railway Gate.
