DCs asked to repair embankments by March 31

GUWAHATI, Dec 20: Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal has directed the deputy commissioners to ensure completion of repairing works of all the embankments of the State within March 31, 2017. The DCs will have to take up repairing works on a war footing mode and have to regularly submit update on progress of work to the Government.

The Chief Minister passed the directions to the DCs while interacting with them through a video conference today. The Chief Minister further directed the deputy commissioners to finish the construction of houses under Prime Minister’s Awas Yoja within April 1, 2017. Further to oversee smooth completion of construction of houses, all districts are required to appoint one nodal officer each. “Being a tiol programme, all DCs have to take adequate measures for timely completion of construction of houses,” Sonowal said.

Expressing concern over slow progress of construction work of PMAY houses, Sonowal further directed the DCs to convene special block-level meetings to find out the defaulters who have not completed the construction of houses in spite of receiving the first installment on time. Similarly, the Chief Minister asked the DCs to release the first installment of fund to the beneficiaries immediately whose mes have figured in the beneficiary list, but fund was not released.

Sonowal also discussed all issues related to land acquisition for tiol highway construction in the state with the deputy commissioners. He asked the DCs to settle all bottlenecks for speedy construction work. The PWD (NH) Department was also instructed to immediately relocate all electric posts for stepping up the road construction works.

The Chief Minister also asked the DCs to carryout extensive publicity campaign for promoting less cash and more digital economy in the state in coordition with the banks. He stressed the need to generate more awareness amongst the panchayat representatives, farmers, youth and all other section of the society on the digital modes of transaction.
