DDC frowns as she reviews soil conservation work

GUWAHATI, Jan 11: The Kamrup(M) District Development Commissioner Barli Sarma has frowned the way the Rs 3-crore soil conservation project work is progressing in the district. She has also asked the dairy department and weights and measures officials in the district to work sincerely, besides asking the PWD to take steps to construct the Panbari-Sopur link road. The Fishery Department in the district has also been asked to complete five fish farms in the district. The DDC has asked the Labour Commissioner to implement the schemes meant for construction labourers. Sarma reviewed all the schemes and projects being taken up in the district at a meeting of the District Development Committee (DDC) in Guwahati on Thursday. While the district mager of the Industries Department let her know the selection of 86 beneficiaries under Stand Up India Scheme and approval to twenty-five projects under the PMGP, the Joint Director of the District Health and Family Welfare let the DDC know the outbreak of small pox in Panikhaiti and Chopaidong areas in the district. The DDC asked the PHE to examine the water there and make them poison free. She also took stock of Atal Amrit Yojo. Barring a village, electrification work has been complete in Guwahati, the APDCL informed the DDC. The DDC asked to department to secure all transformers that have been a threat to public security in the city.  Various departments gave accounts of their respective schemes and projects. The meeting decided to hold such review meetings on ninth instant of every month.
