Decline in accidents on first day of 2018

GUWAHATI, Jan 2: The year 2018 has sniffed a change for the better on its very first day with the number of road traffic accidents in the State showing a downward trend.

According to information made available by GVK Emergency Magement and Research Institute, on January 1, 2018 the number of road traffic accident cases in the State was 101 against 136 on the corresponding day in 2017. This fall in accident cases on the very first day of the year is attributed to improved policing by those on traffic duty. The number of drink and drive cases has also come down this year. Meanwhile, the number of road traffic accidents in the State on December 31, 2017 was 147 against 124 on the corresponding day in 2016.
