GUWAHATI, Aug 13: The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) has demanded decommissioning of the Rangadi Dam as water from this project and Kurichu project of Bhutan wreak havoc in Assam this year. The AASU said that the devastating floods in Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Majuli and other north bank areas in the State was because of the Rangadi Project. AASU president Dipanko Kumar th and general secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi appealed to Dispur to rescue the flood-affected people of the State on a war footing. It should also supply food, baby food, fodder, drinking water, health services etc., to the affected people. The Centre should also refrain from the politics of assurances, but come forward with funds. It should solve the problem of floods and erosion in the State by declaring it as a tiol problem. They also appealed to all AASU committees to be with the people affected in floods and extend their help.
