GUWAHATI, January 28: The Deori Jajati 6th Schedule Demand Committee (DJSDC) moved Prime Minister rendra Modi today with a slew of demands, mainly for the development of Majuli and other areas in the state. In a memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister, the committee appealed to Modi to convert the PWD road from Majuli Major Deori to Dhakuakha via Gogamukh into a tiol highway connecting with NH 52(15), to upgrade the existing MPHC at Major Deorigaon into a 30–bed hospital under Prime Minister’s Swasthya Yoja so as to benefit people of all communities in the area, to construct border a bund and embankment–cum–road on both sides of the Majuli Majordeori to Kherkotia suti, early completion of Bogibeel bridge and Saikhowa Dholaghat bridge in Tinsukia district, etc. The committee also demanded of the Prime minister to construct an RCC bridge on the Brahmaputra connecting Sikarig hat (Majuli) with Sivasagar district and to complete the bridge over Dibang connecting Joi subdivision of Dhemaji district with Sadiya subdivision of Tinsukia district early. We hope, your able leadership and political goodwill will be pleased enough to fulfil our demands on the basis of development.
