Desecration of John Bosco statue condemned

GUWAHATI, August 11: Bosco 87 Development Society strongly condemned the desecration of the statue of Saint John Bosco by vandals at Bharalumukh  recently. The Society urges the district administration to identify and bring to book all the perpetrators involved in the incident. The members at the same time feel that the situation could have been avoided had the Don Bosco Society sensitized the local populace about the good deeds of John Bosco and the general public taken into confidence by the Government about the selection of site for installation of the Statue subsequently.

Bosco 87 Development Society is a Society formed by the alumni of the class of 1987, Don Bosco School, Guwahati. The group has recently taken up some social issues like the welfare of the families of the departed batch mates, giving scholarships to underprivileged children and imparting vocatiol and hands on training to deserving and needy youths. The group has made a fixed deposit of Rs 50,000 for a class V student whose father expired, given a cheque of Rs 50,000 to an orphan girl and paid the tuition fees for a talented young girl learning a musical instrument for three years. The group with a present strength of sixty active members has decided to involve themselves  in socially relevant issues in a phase wise manner.
