GUWAHATI, Jan 21: The All Assam Panchayat and Rural Development Diploma Engineers’ Association has condemned the incident of Morigaon MLA Dimbeswar Das reportedly making a junior engineer bow him down in public glare at Kothiatali Development Block on Thursday last. Association general secretary Arup Kumar Pathak said in a statement issued to the press today that this is an ominous sigl for the party, the government and bureaucrats who render services to the public as well. He said that junior engineers are the ones who have to play the vital role in implementing various schemes meant for the people. He said that the government has been keeping mum on their salary hike and promotion of junior engineers by confining them into a pay-band. The association demanded of Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal, the P&RD Minister, the Chief Secretary and the Additiol Chief Secretary to intervene into the insult meted to the junior engineer. The association threatened that they would resort to agitation if no action is taken against the erring legislator.
