Directive against illegal garbage dumping

GUWAHATI, Dec 28: Kamrup Deputy Commissioner M Angamuthu, who is the chairman of the District Disaster Magement Authority, has asked the Azara Revenue Circle Officer to be tough against those throwing garbage on or near the stretch of the road from Dharapur to Lokapriya Gopith Bordoloi Intertiol Airport.

In a statement issued to the press today, the district administration said that it came to light that both public and private establishments, high-rises on either side of the road are in the habit of throwing garbage on or near the road. “The garbage has choked the tural and man-made drains in the area, leading to flash floods. It has also polluted the atmosphere of the metropolitan city. This is the road that’s used by domestic and foreign tourists,” the statement said, and added: “The executive engineer of PWD’s NH division has also been asked to be tough against any encroachment that hinders the free flow of water near highways. The DCP (West) has also been asked to cooperate in the event of any such eviction. The Rani BDO has been asked cooperate in the event of any eviction.”
