GUWAHATI, Aug 8: The Kamrup (M) district administration has asked the tiol Highway Division of the PWD to install CCTV cameras in the Old and New Saraighat Bridges in the city so as to implement the declaration of the two bridges as protected areas, besides making them no-parking and no-selfie zones.

The district administration has also asked the police to deploy members of the citizens’ committees as volunteers for promulgation of the order. The administration feels that installation of CCTV cameras will help prevent throwing of garbage on or near the bridges, besides checking immoral activities there. It has also asked Gamon India to deploy sweepers to keep the area clean.
