The training is following a directive from the Chief Secretary that 16 project officers were engaged and attached to 16 different department of the State Government in order to mainstream the disaster risk reduction activities. After the formation of six new districts, ASDMA notified the District Disaster Magement Authority of these new districts with the Deputy Commissioners as chairpersons in respective districts. The training was iugurated by Rajib Prakash Baruah, State Project Coorditor, Assam State Disaster Magement Authority and Director, IPR. He stressed the importance of working together in a coordited manner as a unit for delivering better results as far as disaster preparedness is concerned. The trainees will be given thorough inputs on various facets of disaster magement like Sendai Framework, Prime Minister’s ten-point agenda, climate change and adaptation, preparation of disaster magement plans, knowledge about mitigation and risk reduction strategies and response mechanisms, working of control room along with field exposure visit to the DDMA, Darrang gaining insight of the disaster magement activities at the district level, a press release said.
