Discourage corruption: Governor to students

GUWAHATI, May 12: Assam Governor Banwarilal Purohit called upon the passing-out students of Assam Institute of Magement to create a strong deterrent to corruption in a society because corruption hinders the growth of our tion.

Speaking as the chief guest in the 22nd convocation of Assam Institute of Magement at its campus in Paschim Boragaon here today, the Governor said: “Corruption takes birth in a society when its citizens digress from the common truth that the society is a common property. Every situation where you leave truth, you are giving birth to corruption”.

Purohit therefore, urged the students to build their future on a strong foundation of truth and create a strong deterrent to corruption. He also asked the students to be change agents and disapprove corrupt practices and help the tion to grow faster. Referring to the phenomel growth mantra of Chi, Purohit said that Chi marched ahead on all fronts because of its strong stance against corruption. He also asked the students to discourage corrupt practices and help in creating a society which will be anti-thesis to corruption, a press release said.

The Governor also congratulated the students on their success and said that as magement graduates they need to mage everything effectively and contribute to the growth of the tion. He said, “Success is not a short cut process, it has to be earned through hard work and great efforts.”

Purohit called upon the students to lead a simple life and think positively to ensure their happiness. He also laid stress on a disciplined life with highest mission and vision to work as change agents and help the society to set an agenda for development. He also said that through determition and strong will power everything can be achieved and asked the students to fix their goal and work relentlessly.

Expressing his best wishes to the degree holders, the Governor asked them to make the best use of their degrees and prove worthy to society and contribute to the welfare of the tion. Referring to the convocation as a proud moment, the Governor said that the credit for the success of the students goes to the synergistic approach of students themselves, the faculty and of course of guardians. Purohit conferred postgraduate diploma to 66 students on the occasion.  

The founder Director and member governing body Shantikam Hazarika, Director of AIM Prof. Mukulesh Barua, along with a host of dignitaries, were also present in the convocation function.
