GUWAHATI, Feb 29: United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) (pro-talk) leader Arabinda Rajkhowa is now facing a slur of ‘discrimition’ from the Kamatapur Progressive Party (KPP).
KPP president Atul Chandra Ray and general secretary Uttam Kumar Ray today told the press that the Rajkhowa-led faction of the outfit was very instrumental in bringing back to Assam ULFA general secretary Anup Chetia from Bangladesh. “The rebel group, however, continues to give cold shoulder to the idea of bringing back ULFA leader Pradip Ray alias Dwipjyoti Mahanta alas Major Ranjan Choudhury to Assam from Bangladesh. Is this because he is from the Koch-Rajbobngshi community? Isn’t he a soldier of the ULFA fighting for the cause of what the outfit thinks right and proper? Why is there such discrimition in the group?” they questioned. Pradip Ray hails from Dhubri district.
The two KPP leaders wanted Arabinda Rajkhowa to make his stand on Pradip Ray and the demand for a separate Kamatapur State clear. They also demanded of the Centre to solve the problem of ST status to the Koch-Rajbongshis once and for all, and warned the BJP-led government at the Centre not to mislead the community with such false assurances.
