DISHA takes stock of central scheme works in metro city

GUWAHATI, June 19: The District Development Coordition and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) today took stock of the implementation of various central schemes in Kamrup(M) district at a meeting in the DC office here.

Headed by Guwahati MP Bijaya Chakraborty, DISHA has all the four MLAs of Kamrup(M) district, the deputy Commissioner and officials of the departments concerned as its members.

The schemes that came up for discussion today are MGNREGS, PMAY, NSAD, NRDWP, NRLM, NHM, Mid-Day Meal, SSA, PMUY, LPG Deendayal Upadhyay Gramjyoti Yoja, and other central schemes.

According to the Department of Rural Development, 900 of the target of 1,500 houses under PMAY have been constructed in the district so far. DC M Angamuthu said that revenue villages in forest areas in the district would also be brought under the PMAY for the construction of houses for the poor.      

The MLAs raised the importance of timely action in payment of old-age and widow pensions. The chief executive officer (CEO) of the Zila Pariashad in Kamrup (M) said that Rs 7 crore was left on this head.

The DC asked the Zila Parisahd to hold a meeting with SHGs on NRLM. He said that Guwahati would be projected as the first open defecation-free metropolitan city in the Northeast.      

The DC asked the magistrate to inquire into the problems of Mid-Day Meal and Anganwadis and submit the reports to the respective MLAs within 15 days. On the PMUY slated to be implemented from July this year, the DC asked the Food and Civil Supplies Department to hold a meeting between LPG distributors’ administration and oil companies in July. The DC also took stock of works under the DDUGJY in the district. He informed those present at the meeting of the news of Sopur Gaon Panchayat of the district being recognized as the best gaon panchayat in the State.

Besides the Guwahati MP, present at the meeting are Dispur MLA Atul Bora, West Guwahati MLA RN Kalita, East Guwahati MLA Siddhartha Bhattacharya, GMC Commissioner Molalisa Goswami, DDC Barli Sarma and a host of others.
