GUWAHATI, Jan 5: An APCC delegation led by senior party leader Sarat Barkataky has meet State NRC Coorditor Prateek Hajela in his office in Guwahati with a five-point memorandum urging him to dispel fears from the minds of people of the State on NRC update in the aftermath of the publication of part draft NRC.

The 13 linguistic and religious minority domints districts in the State 208 NRC seva kendras were found to have not following NRC rules as followed elsewhere in the State. According to the memorandum, the district are Darrang, Morigaon, gaon, Goalpara, Dhubri, Cachar, Karimganj, Hailakandi, Kokrajhar, Barpeta, Mancachar, part of lbari and Barpeta.

“Only ten per applicants figured in the draft NRC in the 13 districts, leaving 90 per cent out. Though verification of the remaining 1.39 crore applications will be done in the second phase, yet it is a matter of serious concern that around 90 per cent applicants in the 13 districts have been left out. Taking that in view, we urge you to take up a foolproof verification as per NRC rules and guidelines of the remaining 1.39 crore applicants, correct the innumerable mistakes in mes and addresses, mes of a large number of families missing etc., in the first part NRC draft,” the memorandum said.
