GUWAHATI, Oct 31: The acute paucity of manpower in various departments in Assam has made Dispur to bend its own rule. Now on various departments of the State Government do not have to seek approval for the filling up of vacant posts up to 3rd grade from the Fince Department. Earlier, all departments had to get Fince Department’s approval for filling up of vacant posts, including 3rd and 4th grade posts. Talking to newsmen here on Tuesday, State Fince Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said: “There’re as many as 80,000 posts lying vacant in various departments in the State. We’ve asked the departments to speed up the recruitment process. We’ve let them publish advertisements and recruit candidates on their own for third and fourth posts without having to seek approval from the Fince Department.”
