Dispur failed on all fronts: Bora

By our Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Aug 20: APCC president Ripun Bora has said that Dispur has totally failed in relief operation and that Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal’s grip with New Delhi has also been exposed.

Talking to newsmen in the city on Sunday, Bora said: “Sonowal left for New Delhi to meet the Prime Minister recently on floods in the State and seek central help. He was in New Delhi for 36 hours but failed to get an appointment with the PM. This has glaringly exposed what grip Sonowal has with the Centre.”

Bora said: “The State Government has also failed to check rise in prices of essential commodities. Vegetable prices have been doubled. The prices of grocery items have also gone up.”

Bora said that the government failed to give any assistance to the affected farmers so as to let them cultivate afresh. On the breach of Hatimuria embankment at Koliabor, Bora said: “The breach of the embankment should be inquired by a high-level commission. It was repaired by M/s Madhab Enterprise owned by Achyut Saikia.” People say that Achyut Saikia is a close confidante of Water Resources Minister and Kaliabor MLA Keshab Mahanta.
