Dispur on job to make corporations, boards, councils Congress free

GUWAHATI, Sept 14: Dispur is going to absorb a large number of members of the BJP, AGP and the BPF this month to head various boards, corporations, development councils. The government is on a mission to make all boards, corporations and development councils free from the Congress. The process has already been started with the induction of Sumanta Chaliha as the vice chairman of Assam Publication Board recently.

Of late there were repercussions in the BJP with some of its leaders openly expressing their displeasure on the fact that a large number of boards, corporations and development councils in the State still being headed by Congress leaders. MP RP Sarma, minister Atul Bora and Mominul Aowal were some among them.

This month is crucial for the BJP that it will have to me as many as 18 district presidents and me the State president.

According to sources, the mes that figured in the first phase are Jayanta Mallah Baruah and Rajen Barthakur, who joined the BJP from the Congress but failed to get party tickets; State Minority Morcha president Mominul Aowal, AGP leader Manoj Saikia and BPF leader Prabin Boro. According to sources, Jayanta Mallah Baruah may head ATDC, Mominul to head the Minority Development Board, Manoj Saikia likely to get Housing Board.

The mes have been announced after several meetings between the party and the government. The government has also sought mes from the coalition partners.

There are 42 boards and corporations and 29 development councils in the State.
