Dispur pays tribute to blast victims

GUWAHATI, Oct 30: The Kamrup (M) district administration today paid tribute to the victims of the October 30, 2008 blasts under the Ganeshguri Flyover through a function - Shraddhanjali - that was attended, among others, by State PWD Minister Ajanta Neog, Chief Secretary Binod Pipersania, Additiol Chief Secretary MGVK Bhanu, City Police Commissioner Mukesh Agarwala and Kamrup (M) DC M Angamuthu.

In the evening there was lighting of wicks in memory of theĀ  victims of the blasts in Guwahati, Barpeta Road, Kokrajhar and Bongaigaon.

Meanwhile, the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) staged protest throughout the state in all districts and subdivisions through the shouting of slogans like 'Insurgency should hit its dead-end'. They also lighted lamps in the evening in memory of the blast victims. AASU president Dipangko Kumar th and general secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi said: "The State Government hasn't taken the responsibility of the blast victims and failed to punish the culprits."
