Dispur stays away from baking demand for funds: Ajmal

By our Staff Reporter
GUWAHATI, May 1: AIUDF president Badruddin Ajmal today said that he did raise the issue of Assam floods on the floor of the Lok Sabha and demanded Rs 1,000 crore for tackling floods in the State recently. “I, however, got no support towards that end from the Congress-led Government at Dispur,” he said. In a statement issued to the press today, Ajmal said: “At a time when tural calamities are engulfing the State everywhere, it is hardly felt the presence of a government in the State. It is the responsibility of the present government in the State to see everything till the new government is formed. At a time when flood in Assam was raised on the floor of the Lok Sabha, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi’s Cabinet colleagues were busy in merrymaking. This is an example of sheer irresponsibility.”
