Dispur-UM academic tie-up

GUWAHATI, Dec 14: A collaborative project between the University of Melbourne (UM) and the Assam Government through Assam Engineering College (AEC) was launched in the city today for starting a postgraduate course in AEC and to create an affordable and sustaible housing model. “Through the academic collaboration between the University of Melbourne and AEC two students are enrolled as research scholars and ten faculty members of AEC will go to the University of Melbourne for a 10-week stay. The faculty members will study the theory and practices of the University of Melbourne and try to implement them in AEC syllabus,” State Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said. “It is expected that materials to be used in housing with the academic collaboration will be cost effective and flood and earthquake resistant,” Sarma added.
