District museum infrastructure to be upgraded: Sonowal

GUWAHATI, Dec 17: Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal has said that the basic infrastructure of the district museum will be updated.

"The district museum is located at a prime location in Guwahati and this could be a potential tourism hotspot. The infrastructure of the Museum will be upgraded," Sonowal said.

The chief minister was present at a book release ceremony written by Former Director General of tiol Museum Rabin Deb Choudhury. Earlier in his speech the former director general, while addressing the gathering, pointed out that the culture sector of the country is neglected by the Government of India over the years. He sought intervention of the Chief Minister in so far as the District Museum is concerned. He said that the District Museum does not have any canteen, nor does it have any well-versed receptionist who can receive English-speaking tourists at ease. "Apart from that the museum does not have any semir hall and lift," Choudhury added.
