Diwali marked by accidents, injuries

GUWAHATI, Oct 21: Diwali and Kati Bihu celebrations and their run-up were not incident free despite the issuance of a set of do’s and don’ts for Diwali revelers in the State.
According to statistics received from 108 emergency response services in the State, 43 incidents of road transport accidents were registered in the State on October 17, followed by nine assault cases and six cases of burn injuries on that day which was marked by as many as 58 cases. As many as 49 road transport accident cases were reported on October 18 when as many as eight assault cases, three cases of burn injuries were reported taking the tally of incidents to 60. However, on October 19 incidents almost doubled. While 83 road transports accidents were reported on that day, the number of assault cases rose to 21, the number of burn cases rose to 15 taking, the tally of incidents to 119 on that day.
