Don’t vote for Congress, BJP, AGP: Deori students

By our Staff Reporter
GUWAHATI, Dec 7: The All Assam Deori Students’ Union (AADSU) has appealed to the people of the community not to vote in favour of any Congress, BJP and AGP candidates in the Deori Autonomous Council (DAC) election slated to be held on December 15. The students’ body has appealed to the voters of the community to cast their votes based on candidature, not on candidates’ party affiliation. In a statement issued to the press today, AADSU’s Guwahati City Committee vice president Tridipjyoti Deori and general secretary Hari Prasad Deori said: “The Deoris have all along been demanding of the government to include them in the Sixth Schedule of Indian Constitution. However, the Congress, BJP and the AGP have all along been ignoring the demand. These three political parties have fielded candidates only to grab power, not to ensure development of Deoris. We, therefore, appeal to the voters to vote, preferably for an independent candidate, instead of voting the candidate of any of the three aforesaid political parties.”
