GUWAHATI, May 23: Now women with a mission are to go door-to-door in Assam to make people aware of the whole lot of welfare schemes taken up by the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre.

The mission has already been initiated in Barak Valley and Dima Hasao districts in the State. To give the mission the desired direction, BJP’s tiol Mahila Morcha president Vijaya Rahatkar had a meeting with the Assam Committee of the Morcha here today. Rahatkar is accompanied by tiol Mahila Morcha general secretary Pooja Kapil Mishra.

Addressing the media at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan in the city today, Rahatkar said: “The NDA government at the Centre has taken up a large number of welfare schemes for the people of the State in its three years in office as of now. Such schemes can hit the desired target only when the target people are aware of them. We’ve chosen the arduous work of brining awareness among the people on the schemes. We want women should also contribute to the cause of the people of the country. Our campaign is not only in Assam. We’re going to bring awareness on central schemes in the entire country, by going door-to-door.”

Speaking at the press meet, State Mahila Morcha president Bijuli Kalita Medhi said: “Since the Government at the Centre has taken up such a large number of schemes for the welfare of people, we’re going to bring awareness among the people of the State through door-to-door campaign so as to make the target people getting the benefits.”
