Addressing the press at Guwahati Press Club today, Dr. Ankuran Dutta said that the verdict had been declared on the light of six observations of gross medical negligence on the part of the doctors. “They include not checking the medical history of asthma of Dr Ray by the doctors, absence of pre-assertive assessment of the patient as per the standard protocol including ultrasound to conform acute cholesystitis, absence of pre aesthetic check-up, aesthesia chart and preparation of patient as per the rules, delaying treatment of cardiac event for crucial eight hours and later refraining from taking the patient in Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) even though the primary reason for the transfer of the patient to Jaipur Golden Hospital was due to cardiac arrest and lastly lackadaisical attitude in conducting autopsy in the wake of such a major health deterioration at that time,” he said.
