Drafting of AXX constitution begins

GUWAHATI, May 28: If it is of any consolation to the literati in Assam, drafting of Axam Xahitya Xabha (AXM) constitution began today, a century after the formation of the premier literary body.

In a statement issued by the AXX to the press today, Xabha president Dr. Dhrubajyoti Bora, who presided over the meeting, entrusted Niloy Dutta, working president of the relevant sub-committee, for the drafting of the constitution. According to the Xabha, it has all along been doing without a constitution. Over the past 100 years, the Xabha has been run with a set of rules. The Xabha has sought opinions from all those involved with it – all branch committees of the Xabha, life-time AXX members and well wishers – through mail [e-mail : asam.sahitya.sabha@gmail.com] by June 30 this year.

The draft of the constitution is going to be published by October 1 this year. The constitution of the literary body will be adopted at the Tinsukia session of the Xabha slated for the first week of February, 2018.
