More arrests in drug rackets

GUWAHATI, May 6: Is Guwahati set to be med a drug city? Possibilities are high.

The fire over the recent drug haul at SK Bhuyan Path in the Ambari area in the city is yet to doused, the police last night busted another drug racket at Fatasil Amabri. The police first bbed drug paddler Anwar Hussain, a resident of Masjid Galli in the Dhirenpara area in the city, last night. His confessiol statement led the police to b five others – Sandip Barak of Chilarai Path, Jayanta Deka of Jyotipath in the Rangpathar area, Montu Boro of Basudev Path, Pankaj Das of Rangpathar and Rajkumar Chouhan of Prabhat Boro Path – last night.

On the other hand, sleuths of the City Crime Branch and Paltan Bazar police today raided in the Solapara area in the city and bbed Dillip Verma and Sanjay Das. As many as 98 drug bottles were seized from Sanjay Das and ten from Dillip Verma.

Meanwhile, Billal Affridi, the prime accused in the SK Bhuyan Road drug racket, was bbed along with a woman, Samshul Nessa, from the Agsia area under Boko police station last night.

Meanwhile, a woman from South Sarania showed the way by handing over her addicted son to the police yesterday. She appealed to the women to be tough on tackling the drug mece in the state, and start the movement from family itself.
