GUWAHATI, Oct 7: The pandal of Guwahati Sarbajanin Durga Puja Committee of Latashil is going to depict the Vaishno Devi Mandir and hills this year.
Organizing committee secretary Bijit Pradip Das said: "This year, our puja will complete 36 years. We are planning to depict Vaishno Devi Mandir to attract pandal hoppers and give them a feeling of devotion through this theme.
The structure depicting Vaishno Devi hill will be of 70 feet high and the seat of Goddess Durga will be of 22 feet. The total budget of the puja will be of Rs 14 lakh. We are also planning to depict the Ferris Wheel of London through lightening of the main gate of the Puja. The artisans for the statue, decorators for the pandal and electricians have been brought from Kolkata. They are now working on these themes."
Das also said: "For the security of devotees, we have brought five CCTV cameras, 10 private security persons, fire services, ambulance services and more than 30 volunteers.
The Latashil Police station will also help us in this regard. As this Puja is one of the oldest pujas of the city, we are expecting more than 70,000 devotees everyday, and for them we have allotted 20 food stalls.
There will also be cultural nights everyday during puja days and other social activities like dotion of cloth and other products to public."
