GUWAHATI, Dec 22: Putting an end to an eight-year-long appointment drought in the State Sericulture Department, State Sericulture Minister Ranjit Dutta on Friday handed over appointment letters to as many as 36 candidates against the vacant posts of Sericulture Inspectors/Magers at a function at Khapara in Guwahati.

As many as 36 vacant posts of inspectors/magers in the State Sericulture Department were filled up on Friday when State Sericulture Minister Ranjit Dutta distributed appointment letters to them. The process of recruitment of nine other such posts and that of some third and fourth grade posts will be started soon. This appointment in the department took place long after a gap of nine years.

Dutta appealed to the newly appointed inspectors/magers to ender their service to the department with honesty and sincerity. “Since there had been no recruitment in the department for the past eight years, the number of students of sericulture was on the fall. However, I’ve reversed the appointment policy,” he said.  The minister visited the sericulture farm and the sericulture garden at Khapara in the city after distributing appointment letters.  Top-level officers of the department were present at the function.
