GUWAHATI, April 3: Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Anjan Dutta today said that the Congress has boosted the economic condition of Assam since it took over 15 years ago from the AGP.  In a statement issued to the press today, Dutta alleged the BJP of misleading the people with fake promises and some tampered facts. “The journey has been continuing with the support and blessings of the people of the State. I don’t need to remind the people of Assam about the misrule of AGP in 1985 and 1996. Now it seems ridiculous that the AGP is allying with the BJP to make new Assam. I hope the people of Assam will understand the reality and don’t get misled by them,” said Dutta. Launching his attack at Prime Minister rendra Modi, Dutta said that the BJP government took a U-turn in at least 180 promises during the last 23 months in the governce. “What about the promises of returning black money within 100 days? Modi has promised to return the black money but now he seems to have forgotten. Modi had promised to hike the minimum support price of agri-products like rice and wheat in the election manifesto but after coming to power he ordered to stop the bonus on rice. Besides, on the contrary of giving jobs to 10 crore youths in five years as per his promise, Modi closed down more than one lakh posts,” Dutta added. Modi also termed ‘Achche Din’ as ‘Achche Scam’ of the BJP government for having MPs and ministers with crimil background.  Apart from that, Dutta also raked up the issue of hike in prices of life-saving drugs. “The prices of at least 74 life-savings drugs were hiked. Is this their welfare? The BJP only works for the corporate bodies,” he said. On solving the illegal migrants’ issue, Dutta alleged that BJP never wanted to solve the issue. “Rather the BJP has made the issue more complicated with allowing shelter to non-Muslim migrants in Assam. Besides, the BJP government has also made the visa formalities easier for the Bangladeshi tions who are below 13 years and above 60 years of age,” the APCC president added. Dutta expressed concern over the role of BJP and RSS in bringing division in the line of religion will have serious consequences.
