Education facilities for poor women, girls

GUWAHATI, January 28: “Poor women and girls who can’t continue their study due to poverty have facilities for their education under the Assam State Social Welfare Board (ASSWB). Women and girls who are in the need of such solace may avail the facilities,” said ASSWB chairperson Pratima Devi Sarma today. She was speaking at a semir held today on the occasion of the 18th NE Girl Students’ Association (NEGSA) foundation day at Bahorhat in Polasbari LAC. Over 5,000 women gathered at the function that was attended by actor Cheta Das and others. NEGSA president Munmi Dutta said: “If girls are awaken, the entire society makes stride towards development.”
