Eject Rajbongshi from AXX: Patgiri, Pathak

By our Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Dec 21: The chorus demanding ejection of Paramanda Rajbongshi from the Axam Xahitya Xabha (AXX) is heard louder every passing day in the State with the centery celebration of the premier literary body coming closer. The noncooperation by former AXX presidents with the current extended central executive committee still continues.

Former AXX secretary general Jagadish Patgiri and Dayanda Pathak today appealed to the AXX to remove Rajbongshi as AXX secretary general.

This development came close on the heels of the iuguration committee of AXX centery celebrations and various other organizations of Sivasagar taking a decision in unison not to allow AXX secretary general Paramanda Rajbongshi to enter the venue where the AXX is going to kick-start its centery celebrations. Sivasagar is the place where the AXX had its first session in 1917 with Padmath Gohain Baruah as its president.

Talking to newsmen in the city today, the two former AXX office-bearers said: “How come Rajbongshi roams scot-free even after his me figuring in the suicide note of Rajen Dutta, who blamed it on Rajbongshi for his suicide? This is not all. How come he continues to hold an important post in the AXX despite his alleged involvement in a number of immoral activities? His activities have brought disrepute to the premier literary body of the State. We, therefore, appeal to the AXX to expel Rajbongshi from the AXX for good.”

They said: “Rajbongshi has bent AXX rules, conveniently. The extension of the term of the AXX central executive committee by a year on the pretext of holding its centery celebrations is illegal. Along with Rajbongshi, the AXX president is also responsible for the current fiasco. We appeal to the AXX president to expel Rajbongshi forthwith and form the entire central executive committee of the Xabha afresh, failing which the extension of the term will remain as a taint in AXX history.”

The centery celebration of the AXX is slated to be held from January 26.

AXX president Dr. Dhrubajyoti Bora did call a meeting of all former AXX presidents to guide the Xabha at the Circuit House in the city yesterday. However, not a single former president turned up for the meeting.

In a statement issued to the press yesterday, Dr. Bora sought written opinions from all district and branch AXX units, all organizations, jourlists, critics, well-wishers and others in order to put an end to the lingering debate on the AXX by December 25 this year.
