Elephant depredation near Rani

GUWAHATI, July 8: Depredations by three wild elephants have left the villagers near Rani Reserved Forest along the Meghalaya border pass sleepless nights for the past few days.
Villages from Jayantipur in Rani to Sukurberia along the Meghalaya border like lapara, Jaypur, Belguri, Moirapur, Patgaon, Puran Sukurberia and Manikpur witness three elephants feeding on their crops as soon as the sun sinks. Though no human lives and livestock are lost till now, the frequent depredation by the three elephants damaged crops. They also pose a threat to their lives. They demanded of the State Forest Department to take immediate measures to rescue them from the plight they have been in.
