Eri brand launched

GUWAHATI, August 13: Eri Fed, which has successfully brought those involved in cottage industry together, launched its own brand – Eriya. State Sericulture Minister Ranjit Dutta launched the brand at a function at Assam Textile Institute in the city. Dutta said: “I respect the effort made by the Eri Fed to take the works of the State weavers to outside. This move has given a market to weavers who have not been getting government facilities and markets over the years. Non-resident Assamese always treat Eri as their own when they get it outside the State and elsewhere in the world. The previous government wasn’t caring for the development of Textile and Silk Department.”
