AASU should take schemes for development of skill of mediocre students: Amarjyoti Choudhury

GUWAHATI, June 9: Delhi University vice chancellor Dr. Dinesh Singh today said: "To top in any examition is good, but that's not the end of the road. The great thing is to get rank in the examitions of life, and to make that happen, one has to be truthful, disciplined and target-oriented."

Dr. Singh was speaking as the chief guest at the function organized by Kamrup and Guwahati AASU units to felicitate 112 HSLC, AHM and HS examition toppers and 68 school teachers at Rabindra Bhavan in the city today. Tezpur University Pro vice-chancellor Dr. Amarjyoti Choudhury was the guest of honour at the function.

Dr. Singh further said: "That the people of Assam are talented is a proven fact. The Mughal could conquer the rest of India, barring Assam. Despite making as many as 17 attempts, the Mughal had to retreat following the strong retaliation by the talented army of the Ahom Kingdom. The talent of the toppers in examition will be considered fruitful if they can do something for their state that will stop the students from here to go elsewhere in the country for education."

Dr. Choudhury said: "The AASU felicitating the rank holders is laudable. However, the students those who failed to secure good marks should also be made useful human resources. The AASU should take some schemes to develop the skill of such students so as to make them skilled human resources."

AASU chief adviser Samujjal Bhattacharya demanded reforms in the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA).
