Excise raids in city

GUWAHATI, May 5: Excise sleuths have been on their drive against manufacture and sell of illicit liquor in and around Guwahati. The sleuths conducted their raids in areas like Segunbari, Ganeshpara, Dotalpara, Kotahbari, Bathoupara (ISBT), Ahomgaon, Pachim Boragaon, Maligaon Shuttle Gate, Maligaon Shukurbaria Bazar, etc., areas and arrested as many as 41 persons, including women, involved in illegal manufacture and sale of liquor. Cases were registered against them under the Assam Excise Act. They were, however, released on persol bail. Around 8,000 litres of elicit liquor, 12,000 kg raw materials for making illicit liquor, utensils etc., were also seized from them.
