GUWAHATI, Oct 15:  A handmade explosive device was recovered near the house of Molin Bhowmik of Sankarpur in the Birubari area in the city today.

A few children were playing with the bomb. However, when the elders in the area spotted it, they made no delay to inform the police. Soon some top-level police officials rushed to the spot and defused the bomb.

According to police sources, the bomb is a crude one. “It has three wine bottles – one contains petroleum, the second one contains ils and the third one contains gelatine and a detotor. A fuse wire connected with the detotor sticks out of the device that has a cement work around it. It has been wrapped with small ropes,” the police sources said. The police suspects that the device might have been kept there by a family that has a dispute with Bhowmik.
