'Expulsion of foreigners must be as per Assam Accord'

GUWAHATI, April 13: Assam government's alliance partner AGP today reiterated that the identification and expulsion of foreigners must be carried out on the basis of Assam Accord.

Addressing a press conference here today, AGP president Atul Bora and also minister in the BJP government at Dispur, said, "We have already made our stand clear on foreigners' expulsion issue. Every forefinger irrespective of their religion must be expelled as per the provisions of the Assam Accord."

He further said that as per the provisions of Assam Accord, the Indo-Bangla border should be sealed besides ensuring the constitutiol safeguard of the indigenous people.

Clause 6(A) of the Assam Accord guarantees to provide constitutiol safeguards to the indigenous people.

Making their stand clear on mega dam Bora said, "We have not changed our stand on mega dam. Instead of mega dams, we are in favour of the construction of small dams, which does not affect people."

Regarding contesting the ensuing panchayat polls, Bora said that the party is discussing the matter whether it will jointly fight the polls or will go alone.

"We will take a call in this regard soon," Bora added.

He further said that the AGP will always stand by the people of Assam.   "AGP will work in the Assamese new year to make the party stronger and dymic," Bora said.
