GUWAHATI, January 2: The Shramik–Krishak Kalyan Parishad (SKKP) leaders moved the Centre and demanded CBI inquiry into the large–scale anomalies in the Panchayat and Rural Development (P&RD) and the Agriculture departments in Assam.

Talking to newsmen in the city today, SKKP president Pradip Kalita said: “We met Union Rural Development Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh recently and raised the issue of rampant anomalies in the MGNERGA scheme in Assam. Eighty per cent of Rs 1,000–crore fund of the scheme has been swindled in Assam. We have demanded CBI inquiry into the scam. We submitted a memorandum to him.”

Kalita further said: “We also met Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh and demanded CBI inquiry into the Rs 1,000–crore scam in the Assam Agriculture Department headed by Nilomonisen Deka. We submitted a memorandum to him.”

The Parishad leader said that they had sought the intervention of Union Home Minister Rajth Singh in the Jogdol murder case. “Over six years have been elapsed but not arrest and no action have been taken against the culprits in the murder case,” the delegation told the minister during their meet.

“We met the Union Secretary of Forest and raised the issue of rampant killings of rhino in Assam. We demanded of the bureaucrat to ensure the arrest of Rakibul Hussain on the charge of rhino killings in the state,” Kalita said.
