Fate of sub-health centre: A mystery

AZARA, Oct 16: It seems that in the iction on the part of Dispur for long 15 years has made public works getting piled up for West Guwahati MLA Ramendra rayan Kalita. All is not well at Mirzapur in the Azara area on the outskirts of Guwahati.

On public demand, a building was constructed at Belguriapara in the Mirzapur area for Mirzapur Health Sub-centre. The building was also formally iugurated on December 24, 2009. However, for reasons best known to the authorities concerned, the health sub-centre has never been shifted to the new building erected for it. Even after seven years of formal iuguration of the building, the health sub-centre is being run in a ramshackle house. The new but abandoned building is also losing its doors and windows, as damage due to lack of upkeep and corrosion goes on ubated.

Now the people of the locality moved the present MLA, Ramendra rayan Kalita to get the new building repaired and the health sub-centre shifted to it, without any delay.

The tale of woes in the area does not end here. The same locality has a drinking water supply project of the PHE lying abandoned for years together. The affected people of the locality have also moved the MLA on this issue as well. They raised the demand for reviving the water supply project.

Meanwhile, Mirzapur Taluk has sent a memorandum to the new MLA raising a slew of matters that have much to do with the wellbeing of the people in the area. The memorandum has spelt out a number of dos for the MLA in the area like an inquiry into the anomalies in the construction of a public cremation ground at Mirzapur, black topping of by-lanes, widening of main roads and converting the existing wooden bridges in the area into RCC ones.
