Film fraternity, students protest rising crimes against women

GUWAHATI, March 28: Members of the Assamese Film Fraternity on Wednesday took out a protest march against the rising incidents of rape and molestation in the State.

The protest march was taken out from AEI Field, Chandmari to Ganesghuri with leading actors like Nishita Goswami, Barsha Rani Bishaya, and Aimee Baruah taking part in it.

With banners and posters in their hands, they demanded safety and security of women in the State. They also demanded death sentence to the people involved in such crimes. The students of Handique Girls’ College in the city, on the other hand, observed a black day on Wednesday. Wearing black badges, they demanded death sentence to the culprits involved in heinous crimes like rape and molestation.
