Film producer Goenka receives tiol award

GUWAHATI, May 10: Noted film producer from the Northeast Shankar Lall Goenka received the prestigious tiol award for the best Bodo film – Dau Huduni Methai – at the 63rd tiol Film Award ceremony held recently in New Delhi. He received the award from Indian President Prab Mukherjee.

An Assamese children film Kshubh, produced under the banner of Goenka’s Shiven Arts, has also taken part in a number of tiol and intertiol film festivals. Based on child psychology, the cinema has many takers among the viewers. In a significant development, the Department of Higher Education, Assam has asked the inspectors of schools in the State to ensure the screening of the film in various schools in the State.

According to Goenka, the film has already been screened in DPS, Guwahati and the administrations of a number of other schools have contacted him for the screening of the film. It is worth mentioning here that two of Goenka’s last three films have bagged tiol awards.
